His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has envisioned to cover 15% of Kuwait’s electricity demand from renewable energy sources through 2030. It is estimated that by 2030 electricity production will be stepped up by 30,000 Megawatt. The government’s KD30 billion renewable energy initiative aims to partner with local and international partners to generate 4500MW of renewable energy (15% of its total energy needs) by 2030, from a combination of photovoltaic and concentrated solar power.
